the extension is considered as a temporary timber structure,which should not influence the existing building, a massive schoolhouse. the design was based on this idea. connexions to the existing building and to the ground are minimised: the building bulk is set apart from the schoolhouse with a gap - the ideas were translated both in construction and in spatial terms.
